It was my first race and the building block to eventually a marathon. So, my wife kicked my trash. Im not going to tell you what my time was, but lets just say she beat me by 10 minutes. It took her all of about 25 yards to pull ahead of me. She likes to rub that in, but as I tell her “you try putting on a back pack and fill it with two 40 pound bags of flour and run with that! That’s what its like for this hefty” Not only did she beat me, but I also got beat by Spiderman! Not the real Spiderman that would actually be an honor, but some nerdy dude dressed up in a full on Spiderman costume. Pretty pathetic that I let that guy take me down. Anyway, since I didn’t win I thought Id pick out someone and make sure I beat them. So, there he was, some little freaking 6 year old kid who kept passing me then Id pass him then he’d pass me back. It was rather annoying for several reasons, most of them being that he is 6 and Im 28. Anyway, as we turned the final corner into the Gateway his mom yelled “Come on Gabriel, lets go” then he bolted off and I was like “oh no you don’t” so I took off sprinting too and raced all the way to finish line in front of my little friend…..Scoreboard Gabriel! Boo yeah!!!! Now he’s got to tell all his little 1st grade friends about some fat 28 year old who owned him in the race.
At the finish line
Starting weight=272
Current ridiculous weight=266
Weight lost this week=2
Total lost-6

First off congrats on the new 2 pounds gone!
Second.I think you could be the funniest blog writer out there. YOu should have taken a picture of Spider man or Gabriel! Good job for doing it!
Good job today at the 5K. It was fun ruunning it with you...I mean, sorry I had to blow you away with my mad jogging skills and leave you in the dust. But don't worry, someday you will pass me up. I'm proud of you :) This is only the beginning!
I hope you don't mind me checking out your blog, Jake but I just had to extend my well wishes to you. Ben and I have run 5K's together and those are great experiences. You are lucky to have a great wife to support you along the way. :) I'm excited for you and congratulate you on your journey!
I will most likely never run a 5k, props to you for beating that 6 year old and showing him who is boss. Freakin hilarious! I once tried track in High School and got beat by the special olympics girl. Not anything against her, I just really sucked even when I had good lungs.
Dude, you are bringin SEXAAY back! Check you out! Congrats on the journey thus far. Before you know it, you and I are gonna be runnin a marathon together!! Keep it up buddy!
first off, you're hilarious. i think it's great that you have a such a good attitude about i. second, my mom has had kidney failure since I was 11, so I am familiar with the ups and downs (weight gain being one of them) so good for you for setting this important goal to get healthy! keep going - you'll get there! 6 lbs is awesome!
Dude, so you're wondering how to avoid getting cramps? First, go to the store and buy yourself some Midol PMS. Oh wait, maybe you were asking about RUNNING cramps. That's different. For side aches you should hold your abs tight while running, purse your lips, and exhale strongly through them. This dispels the carbon dioxide buildup in your lungs. For stomach cramps, be careful not to eat or drink too much before the run. I don't have your # so gimme a call when ya get a sec! I hope this info helps....
Jake proud of you and your first step to run a marathon! Don't be worried about losing to the guy in the spiderman uniform , he got his..spandex causes extreme chaffing! I am glad you didn't let that little punk kid win, keep up the good work.
